COMPREHENSIVE PSYCHIATRIC CARE
AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
Frequently Asked Questions
At Leibu Psychiatry, we provide expert psychiatric care in New York City with transparency, compassion, and respect. This page outlines our scheduling, billing, and insurance policies to ensure you have clear guidance on fees, appointments, and out-of-network reimbursement.
Are you accepting
new patients?
Yes. New patients can typically be seen within a few days
to a week of getting in touch. Call (212) 301-0615 or email us
to schedule today.
Does LeibuMD accept insurance?
Leibu Psychiatry is an out-of-network private practice. Some insurance plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental healthcare.
Understanding Out-of-Network Benefits
Out-of-network benefits allow you to see clinicians outside of your insurance network. Once your deductible is met, many plans reimburse 50–80% of session costs. To confirm your coverage, call the number on your insurance card and ask about: • Reimbursement rate for out-of-network behavioral health services • Deductible requirements • Session limits per year • Documentation needed for reimbursement Practice ZIP code: 10016 Common billing codes: 90792 or 99205+90838 Initial evaluation (90 minutes) 99213/99214 + 90836 45-minute follow-up (therapy + medication management) 99213/99214 + 90833 30-minute follow-up (medication management only)
How do I know what type of treatment or therapy is right for me?
We begin with a 60- or 90-minute evaluation to understand your needs. While the type of therapy matters, your connection with your therapist is key. Our diverse team will help identify the most effective approach for you.
How do I choose the right Leibu Psychiatry doctor/therapist?
You can review the bios of our MDs or speak with our administrative assistant and clinical director to match you with the best clinician based on your preferences, needs, and goals.
When is medication recommended?
Our MDs are extensively trained in psychiatric medication management. Medication may be recommended if it is likely to help and/ or enhance therapeutic responses. We guide each patient through personalized treatment options.
What can I expect at the initial evaluation?
-
Complete intake forms to provide your history (medications,
therapy, hospitalizations, etc.) before the session. -
A 60- or 90-minute evaluation focused on your history, goals,
and current challenges. -
Discussion of recommendations for the most optimal care once the above is gathered.
-
If we determine that you require more specialist services,
beyond what can be provided by this practice, we will direct
you to alternative resources. -
For ongoing work with us, we will work with you to arrange
follow-up appointments that fit your schedule.
For children and teens, do parents attend sessions?
For the initial evaluation, parents attend a 60-90-minute session alone. The child or teen then has their own 60-minute evaluation. Finally, the Parents and teen meet for a treatment recommendation session. For ongoing care, subsequent sessions are typically attended by the child or teen alone,
unless otherwise planned for with MD and family.
Will Leibu Psychiatry communicate with my child’s school and/or
other treatment providers?
Only with parental request and signed consent.

Cancellations
We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need
to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least one full business day (24 hours) notice. For Monday appointments, contact us by the preceding Friday.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 business hours’
notice—or missed entirely—will be charged the full session fee,
as insurance companies do not reimburse for late cancellations
or no-shows. Whenever possible, we will work to reschedule
your appointment within the same week.
Billing and Payment
Payment for each session—whether in person or via telehealth—is due at the time of service.
All patients are asked to keep a credit card on file in our secure patient portal. This card is used for session payments and for any late-canceled or missed appointments.
If you have questions about billing or payment, our administrative team is happy to assist you.
