Dr. Evan Leibu is an adult psychiatrist with experience and interest in treating a diverse selection of psychiatric conditions. Dr. Leibu is involved in resident education as the Pharmacology Course Director for the Mount Sinai Psychiatry Residency. He has a focus on the psychopharmacological treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder and was previously part of the Clinical and Research Staff at the Mount Sinai Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders Program. Dr. Leibu also has experience in the treatment of mental health issues affecting students and young professionals and was previously part of Student Trainee Mental Health at Mount Sinai.

 

Prior to his medical training he was a researcher in the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and published in the area of genomics. He earned his medical degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences where he was awarded the Gilbert M. Beck Award for academic excellence in psychiatry and the Elizabeth Medical Award for compassion and ethics. He was inducted into the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha in 2010. He completed his Residency and Chief Residency in Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital. In addition, he is a member of The New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and a Member of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
